After discovering Pamela Yellen's first book "Bank on Yourself" a few years ago and starting my own plan, I am here to tell you it has been so beneficial to me and my family and has been the best investment we ever made. My husband and I plan to continue to expand our retirement savings by investing in ourselves! As Generation Xers, we did everything "The Establishment" told us was the way to grow wealthy. We invested in real estate, we maxed out our 401K contributions, we became entreprenuers, we invested in the stock market. What do I have to show for all of that today? A paultry return on my 401K that barely covers the fund expenses, real estate that is under water, etc. The only investment that has grown for our family and also been available to us at a moments notice as an emergency fund has been our Bank on Yourself policy. We truly feel our financial future has been hijacked by Wall Street and the US Banking industry. These institutions are not there for the average American, they have simply found an incredible method to transfer wealth from America's middle class to the top 1%!
